Freida Lee Mock


Freida Lee Mock is an American filmmaker, director, screenwriter and producer. Her documentary, Maya Lin: A Strong Clear Vision, about the designer of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial won an Academy Award for Best Feature Documentary.

Mock is the chair of the Documentary Executive Committee and was the first governor of the Documentary Branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. She co-founded and served as chair of the Directors Guild of America’s Documentary Awards.

She co-founded the American Film Foundation which has been involved in the creation of more than sixty documentaries and feature films. She received her BA from University of California, Berkeley, where she studied history and law.
